The ESDM is a Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Intervention (NDBI) for young children (1-5yrs) with Autism and/or Developmental Delays.
It was developed by the MIND Institute (UC Davis) and is designed to move children with Autism or Developmental Delays through the stages of typical childhood development using an individualised structured teaching curriculum and principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Pivotal Response Training (PRT).
Intervention is completed in 10 week block periods following an initial assessment and programming. Sessions are play based and work on teaching skills across all developmental domains including expressive and receptive language, joint attention, social skills, cognition, play, fine and gross motor, as well as self/personal care, following a program of up to 25 objectives / term.
Data is collected each session, and individual progress tracked through each objective throughout the term.

SPOTS is proud to be partnering with Making Waves, a mainstream long day care centre and SeeChange Therapies to offer ESDM therapy in Newcastle NSW. Therapy is available to both enrolled and non – enrolled children.
